The Allied Masonic Degrees in the Philippines operates directly under the system and customs of the United States Jurisdiction. It is structured as an invite-only appendant body for Master Masons seeking deep historical and allegorical research.
History & Governance
Establishment: The AMD was officially brought to the country on February 12, 2010.
First Local Unit: The inaugural local body formed was Filipinas Council No. 490, AMD.
Chartering Authority: Local Philippine councils are formally chartered by the Grand Council of the AMD of the USA.
Administrative Alignment: Organizationally, the AMD operates under the umbrella and cooperation of the Grand York Rite Bodies of the Philippines.
Structure & Degree SystemBecause the Philippine AMD is an extension of the US jurisdiction, it inherits the same expansive repository of "detached" side degrees. While a single blanket obligation binds an initiate to all of them, the local councils actively study and confer various grades:
Core Systems: Local bodies preserve degrees like the Order of St. Lawrence the Martyr, Excellent Master, Knights of Constantinople, Master of Tyre, Grand Tilers of Solomon, Architect, Grand Architect, and Superintendent.Appendant Orders: The system also includes the Royal Ark Mariner, the Order of the Secret Monitor, and the Order of the Scarlet Cord.Honorary & Recreational Groups: The prestigious Royal Order of the Red Branch of Eri (conferred for exceptional service) and the lighthearted Ye Antient Order of the Corks are actively recognized.
Membership Requirements
To be eligible for an invitation into a Philippine AMD Council, an individual must fulfill strict prerequisite conditions within regular Freemasonry:
Craft Lodge: Hold the status of a Master Mason in good standing under a recognized Grand Lodge, such as the Grand Lodge of the Philippines.Capitular Masonry: Be a Royal Arch Mason in good standing within the York Rite system.Unanimous Invitation: Membership cannot be applied for; a candidate must be formally noticed, recommended, and unanimously invited by the existing members of a local council.
